Mike “Cappy” Capp is an old friend of Grego’s from the Funko family circuit, and he’s a very talented artist. He’s got the mad crazy skills of taking recognizable characters from pop-culture and turning them into refreshingly new and spunky versions of their original selves. He takes his cues from his children’s drawings, and although most of his works are 2D the toiz that he does customize are just as incredible.

When did you first know you wanted to be an artist?
When I was around 7 yrs old. I wanted to be like the guys who were painting the KISS album covers.

What inspires you to create? Where do you get your ideas from?
I just have a need to “create” deep down, I think everyone does. I get my ideas from memories when I was a kid and from my children.

What kind of materials do you use?
Acrylics & Oils on canvas most of the time.

When did you first get into customizing toys?
Around 3 years ago. It’s not my main objective, but I like to do it once in a while. It’s kind of kooky!

What’s the biggest challenge with your projects?
Finding the time to create all the ideas that are in my head.

Outside of your art, what do you like to do for fun? What else are you passionate about?
For fun I like to listen to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, KISS & Anvil. The game Axis & Allies is really fun! I like to do a little stand-up comedy once in a while as well.

What do you see yourself doing in the future?
I’m going start making some short films in the future - probably parodies and comedies! I always wanted to do that.

What’s your next project?
My next project will be a new “mash-up” painting of Jackson Pollock (Famous Artist) and Jack the Ripper (Evil Bad Guy). I’m going to call it Jack the Dripper!
